At West Virginia University (Sahab Rifai, Onur Avci) following the recent completion of vibration testing, finite element modeling and calibration of the full-bay FastFloor C specimen are underway. The testing program included experimental modal analysis as well as human walking tests conducted at subharmonic frequencies of the floor’s natural modes. The updated finite element models in SAP will be used to predict floor acceleration responses and compared against experimental results. This comparison supports the evaluation of existing design methods for estimating peak accelerations induced by human walking and is aimed at providing engineers with design methods that can be used in practice.
