FastFloor R initiates web crippling research

Ongoing work on FastFloor R is moving into Phase 3 which focuses largely on the potential web crippling limit states in the module. Phases 1 and 2 primarily addressed bending strength, deflection, and vibration performance, while Phase 3 expands the scope to evaluate web crippling behavior. (In the earlier phases, measures were taken to avoid web crippling in the deck profile.) The initial Phase 3 investigations concentrate on Exterior One-Flange (EOF) and Interior One-Flange (IOF) loading conditions, with bearing lengths and end details consistent with those used in Phase 2 testing. The expectation is that the attachment of the cementitious panel further stabilizes the section and distributes the load in a beneficial manner not accounted for in current provisions. Testing initiates this Spring with material currently being sent to the lab at Johns Hopkins where the work will be conducted.
