Diaphragm behavior of FastFloor C – new testing gets underway

At Virginia Tech University (Fadeel Ramadan, Matt Eatherton) are working on sub-assemblage and smaller scale testing to establish the critical information needed to predict the diaphragm behavior of the FastFloor C modules. The effort began by evaluating diaphragm demands derived from archetype buildings, and is then followed by experimental testing of four different plate-to-beam connection types using sub assemblage specimens, as diaphragm performance is strongly governed by these connections. A 10 ft × 10 ft FastFloor specimen is then tested under lateral loading, and the study concludes with modeling of the full diaphragm system. This work is now underway with testing through the next year across the various configurations.
